Skin, Our Largest Organ

Did you know that your skin is your largest organ? It protects us from and connects us to the outside world.

I think it is important to understand how our skin works so that we can take care of it better. I wanted to summarize the basic facts and functions and list several sources for more information, but National Geographic explains the skin too perfectly with only the best graphics and diagrams. It will give you visual insight on where acne comes from too!

We recommend National Geographic’s Skin Article to everyone because we all have skin and need to learn about it. We also recommend Grandma’s Lye Soap to anyone who bathes!

How To Wash Your Face

When Grandma sells her soap, she always recommends the best way to  use it. If you are shopping online, Grandma can’t physically hand you the bar of soap and give her instructions. She won’t make you feel like a little kid who doesn’t know how to wash his face. She makes you feel like she wants the very best for you and for you to get the most out of her soap. The cool thing is, Grandma really does make Grandma’s Lye Soap and she really does want the best for you.

Grandma says, to wash your face twice a day. Once in the morning and once before you go to bed. Use Grandma’s Lye Soap all over, for your face and body. So if you use it to shower in the morning, use it to wash your face at night, or vice versa. Sometimes it helps to wash your face an extra time after a long day at work or school. Especially wash after you exercise or do manual labor.

Use warm water when you wash your face. Not hot. Not cold. Be gentle with your face and rub the bar in a circular motion. Definitely don’t scrub.

Some people have unique techniques they that work best for them. Comment here so we can share those ideas with other Grandma’s Lye Soap lovers!

Skin and Exercise

Some people may think that exercise makes their acne worse. This would be something to talk about with your physician.

Tips from non-medical professionals:

  • Shower soon after working out to lessen the time sweat and dirt are on skin.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing (if possible for your sport/workout) to allow pores to breathe
  • Exercise is part of a balanced lifestyle and may help with other health problems that in turn could help your skin

Stay healthy and take care of your skin!

Grandma’s Love

Recently, I was at an airport waiting for my flight to leave. I could hear people making small talk all around me, so of course I had to listen in. I overheard 2 couples talking about how they were each on their way home from visiting their grandkids for Christmas. They took turns bragging about activities and presents with such joy that they were lucky enough to spoil their grandchildren for a few weeks. One of the grandmothers said to the other, “We love our kids, but now our grandchildren! We would do ANYTHING for them!”

Isn’t that the truth? There is a special love from grandparents to  grandchildren that is beautiful and unique.

Remwood Products hopes that all of Grandma’s Soaps make you feel loved, cared for, and spoiled. We want to give you the very best and make sure you always wash behind your ears!

How to Make Your Bar of Soap Last Longer

A bar of soap from Grandma’s Pure and Natural will last about a month depending on the user and how many times per day they are bathing. We all know that Grandma’s Lye Soap is an economical natural buy. There is a way to enhance that value even more.

Try these things to make your bar soap last even longer:

  • Store your Grandma’s Lye Soap in a soap dish between uses
  • Don’t leave your Grandma’s Lye Soap sitting in water
  • Save pieces that chip off of your bar of soap and the remnants when a bar is almost finished
  • Use accumulated salvaged pieces together in a wash cloth pouch
  • Keep Grandma’s Lye Soap out of direct contact with shower stream
